Last week President Bush gave a speech in Wilkes-Barre, PA, where he declared his goals and ambitions for Iraq. He siad that, Iraq should not only be a "free society" at the heart of the Middle East, but an ally in the war on terror and "a model of hopeful reform in a region that needs hopeful reform" If Iraq can be free, he said, "every free nation will be more secure".

Compare this to his original goals going into the invasion of Iraq when the objective was to disarm Iraq, and rid it of weapons of mass destruction.

Last week a final report from Bush's own disarmament inspectors confirmed that there were no such weapons.

The american military continues to occupy Iraq to stabilze the region, but stabilize it for what? Does Bush really expect Iraq to fall in line with the goals he set forth last week at any time within the next 5 years, or the next 20 for that matter? Does anyone in washington have a clear, consise plan to get our forces out of the middle east? Does anyone in government even know the reason our forces are still there to begin with? We liberated Kuwait from Iraq 12 years ago and we still maitain a presence there. Can anyone guess what the future holds for our military and Iraq? It sure as hell is not a pull it out in the next 5 years.

We'll be out of there once we drain them of their oil. Hopefully, with all those H2 gas-guzzlers on the road, it won't take too long.
