Ok, there are so many threads on music, I would like to start one about books. My favorite writers are Stephen King (also as richard bachman, his "darker" self), Wiess and Hickman, and Robert Jordan, oh adn how could I forget CS Lewis and Aasismov! Who are your favorites? When I read a good book, its like you become part of the story, you can almost feel the occurances, the characters pain and misfortune. I recently finished the regulators by king as bachman again, and I find myself tearing up at the end. I love a good story, one that breaks the boundaries of conventional thinking and takes you from reality to almost reality.

I've always like Brian Jaques. the way he tells stories is so smooth, and the way the character talks (dialect i think...i don't pay attention in english) is strong, and you can easily see what kind of accent they have. He's created a seperate intruiging world.

I used to like Tom Clancy, but his books are all the same.

Ive never read any of Brians stuff. And I read two Clancy novels, coming to the same conclusion as you. They suck after a time. But some books, you could read over and over again.

I read a lot of Clancy, don't much anymore... sounds too much like an Armed Forces recruiter. Stephen Hawking's books. Fact is stranger than fiction, and theory is even more out the box.

i like Terry Pratchett, hes a funny writer, and his books are fictiona nd purly for enjoyment, if your looking for a book that realy funny and contains lots of random weird stuff, i suggest read one of his books.

For those that have not been enlightened(you poor souls) you should check out the Dark Tower books. You will not regret it. If you do, then I will have to do what that one guy in The Stand did to the pyro guy in bed...

Dan Brown is pretty good as well, but his books are all the same, too.

Hmm...Tolkien. Hello? LotR? Duh! Obviously some of the greatest books right there. Movies were well done on it, but not nearly as good as reading the books.

Oh yeah, don't forget, "Where's Waldo?" books. Those owned...

Dan Brown - Some of the concepts he has brought to the fore (especially in the Da Vinci Code) are amazing.

Matthew Reilly, Aussie writer. Does some great fiction that is timely, but with an aussie perspective.

Stepen Hawking is cool, but he is just a wierd little man.


Dark Tower is a must read for everyone who enjoys sci fi, fantasy, drama and/or westerns. Its really that damn good.

Anne Rice is a good writer, but not something I can read more than once or twice. Doesnt leave enough to the imagination.

Anne Mcaffery is also great.

Jane Yolen was one of my faves as a kid.

I've read A Breif History of Time. A good book.

My favorite author/poet/whatever is William Wordsworth. I don't know why. He just appeals to me.

Another kick-ass author I forgot: Guy Gavriel Kay.

I've read his Fionavar Tapestry, and am now in the middle of Tigana. Seriously good.
