Here is a bit of Maureen Dowd's column in NYT Today:

Even though we know W. likes to be in his bubble with his feather pillow, the stories this week are breathtaking about the lengths the White House staff had to go to in order to capture Incurious George's attention.

Newsweek reported that the reality of Katrina did not sink in for the president until days after the levees broke, turning New Orleans into a watery grave. It took a virtual intervention of his top aides to make W. watch the news about the worst natural disaster in a century. Dan Bartlett made a DVD of newscasts on the hurricane to show the president on Friday morning as he flew down to the Gulf Coast.

The aides were scared to tell the isolated president that he should cut short his vacation by a couple of days, Newsweek said, because he can be "cold and snappish in private." Mike Allen wrote in Time about one "youngish aide" who was so terrified about telling Mr. Bush he was wrong about something during the first term, he "had dry heaves" afterward.

The president had to be truly zoned out not to jump at the word "hurricane," given that he has always used his father's term as a reverse playbook and his father almost lost Florida in 1992 because of his slow-footed response to Hurricane Andrew. And W.'s chief of staff, Andy Card, was the White House transportation secretary the senior President Bush sent to the rescue after FEMA bungled that one.

Like Nero, he fidled while rome burned, just like on 9/11. This is the same kind of behavior that was displayed by Condoleezza Rice, as she remained shopping, and living it up in manhattan while people were drowning. I hope she had a good time.

Condi's wild ride said:
According to Drudge, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has recently enjoyed a little Broadway entertainment. And Page Six reports that she’s also working on her backhand with Monica Seles. So the Gulf Coast has gone all Mad Max, women are being raped in the Superdome, and Rice is enjoying a brief vacation in New York. We wish we were surprised.

What does surprise us: Just moments ago at the Ferragamo on 5th Avenue, Condoleeza Rice was seen spending several thousands of dollars on some nice, new shoes (we’ve confirmed this, so her new heels will surely get coverage from the WaPo’s Robin Givhan). A fellow shopper, unable to fathom the absurdity of Rice’s timing, went up to the Secretary and reportedly shouted, “How dare you shop for shoes while thousands are dying and homeless!” Never one to have her fashion choices questioned, Rice had security PHYSICALLY REMOVE the woman.

Angry Lady, whoever you are, we love you. You are a true American, and we’ll go shoe shopping with you anytime.

Bush and Rice are prime examples of Evil. That's right fucking Evil. They REALLY don't care about anything but themselves, and they show it at every single possible oppurtunity. They only do things when they thing it will benefit themselves, and they both regret their decisions. They don't regret not giving a shit. They regret not knowing that THIS TIME they needed to pretend to care faster, and blew it.

True selfishness = Evil in my book. Hell it's also in my D&D books since 1979. heh. So the definition of Evil in D&D is the Bush family and friends. Look up Lawful Evil, it's right there. Not like D&D is the authority on evil, but if the fucking shoe fits..........

:mfinger:

Edited for GEEK CHECK! Yeah I know.

A category 4 hurricane is bearing down on the United States, and this "president" can not, will not turn on the TV to see it on CNN.

So, if one of his aides doesn't tell him what's going on in the world - he just doesn't know!

That completely blows my mind.

He doesn't know as much as your average tv watching slack-jawed local.

WTF!
