I hate it. Everythign we do revolves around money. We went to wars over this shit, and we don't make the right decisions all because of the corrupting nature of money. Were taking out war out on Iraq because we want to earn money, and we are letting the Saudis fuck with us to keep our money.

The only thing that we have for free is our body. But we sell our body everyday by working. If were not careful, our ties will choke us to death. All this does is make the rich richer and the poor even more poor.

For some reason, America is very defensive about Capitalism. Their main argument is that greed makes everybody benefit. Wrong. 5 percent of America owns 95 percent of its wealth. Additionally, how the hell will you know? Its not like the poor have any voices in this country. Sure the "average" American may be rich, but that argument is nulled by the fact that the multibillionaires are balanced out by the poor people. If there were less poor people, then the average American would be considered rich.

Capitalism is brainwaishing us. Democracy is just a fascade, its the rich corporations who make all the decisions. It seems like America is a land of opportunity, where the poor can become rich based on merit. But since the rich have so much power, they naturally will want to hold on to their power. Notice how univesities are getting more expensive when their size remains the same, and how exclusive and elite they are getting. This example has been seen many times, corrupt pre-enlightenment monarchs making universities accecible only to the aristocracy.

America is becoming backwards. Capitalism works when there is a big pie to share, but as greedy people consume the pie, there is less of it. The only solution is to make more pies, which is impossible unless we colonize more planets.

I whole heartedly agree. Unfortunately many people are too blind to see this.

Well said, I also totally agree.

The problem with people agreeing to change the system is that in their own greedy little poor hearts, they hope to be the rich bastard one day, and therefore they want all that cool power and prestige over the masses themselves. Even the poor are super greedy under capitalism. Fucking lame ass system.

People kill for money, people raze forests for money, people pollute for money. I need money, everyone needs money, unless they want to live in the woods, totally independant. But even though I need it, I fucking hate it.

Wizardly, I don't think the US is a socialist capitalistic society.. I think it's pretty much a pure capitalistic society, but what makes you think it's not?

Capitilism is what makes the world go round.

What you're failing to see is that the poorest mother fucker in America is better than the average in most countries in this world. Think about it next time you complain about your life.

P.S. What else would you have life revolve around?

America is becoming backwards. Capitalism works when there is a big pie to share, but as greedy people consume the pie, there is less of it. The only solution is to make more pies, which is impossible unless we colonize more planets.

But you support capitalism by using the internet in that house you built/rent while wearing those clothes. I'm sure you saw that one commercial with them, too right? You bought the TV and cable for that, also.

My point is that the world works around money. Put up or shut up. Sure the ways arent always fair, but guess what? That's life. Money is a great system if you think about it. Basically we're ultimately not earning or losing anything, just staying at a constant zero (if you're spending and not saving only...but even then, you eventually spend) but work gets done. It's a sick cycle, yes, but you live with some free time that you earn and it gives you a sense of gratitude in everything you have. If everything was free, there wouldn't be any order and every kind of organization would fail. Stop trying to teach your hippie ideals; the hippies have never contributed anything productive to society anyways.

now, dont get me wrong. Obsession is far different than need. I am happy with what I can get as long as I like what I'm doing as work and I can support myself. Other than having what you need (with maybe some extra spending money for yourself), you should donate to people who aren't as fortunate as you.

learn not to listen to every punk song on the radio. remember where they're coming from and how they got the music there in the first place.

well then obviously you don't know history, don't know what those words mean, are an idiot, or just ignorant.

let's examine each term and see how they affect each other (i feel like im trying to teacher 4th graders (i have so id know))

capitalism - An economic system in which the means of production and distribution are privately or corporately owned and development is proportionate to the accumulation and reinvestment of profits gained in a free market.

socialism - 1. Any of various theories or systems of social organization in which the means of producing and distributing goods is owned collectively or by a centralized government that often plans and controls the economy.
2. The stage in Marxist-Leninist theory intermediate between capitalism and communism, in which collective ownership of the economy under the dictatorship of the proletariat has not yet been successfully achieved.

both definitions of socialism seam to prove my point, ill examine them one at a time and then explain further. 1. is where the government is in charge of the economy essentially. now in america this isn't entirely true, but it has some effects. although many are in existence let me define one government organization that i hope you've heard of:
Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), i dont have the time ot explain everything so if you dont know what this does (and i assume you dont) then use google.

2. essentially states that socialism is the middle stage where private business can be present, but the government still has control in the economy. America is this type of society except that the amount of control the government has is limited.

go to google, or better yet to a local book store and pick up a book ont he new deal, and focus on the policies passed. then research where these policies, acts, and organizations are today and you'll understand my point.

now,

is the most rediculous remark i HAVE ever read on this forum.

EDIT: i forgot to tell you where to find a pure capitalist society so that you could compare/contrast. if you want to find that out research people like John Rockefeller, Andrew Carnagie, and then research why all these socialist organizations were started and then you'll understand why a pure capitalist society doesn't work, and why we aren't one.

Well loollybo what form of society do you suggest. Socialism? We all know that dosen't work just look at the U.S.S.R. , oh wait it dosent exist anymore. Even though Capitalism isnt an ideal system it seems to work a hell of a lot better than any other system out there.

Canada. They turned out pretty fine. Hell, you're from Mississippi, so here's a good comparison. The Canadians are just like you guys, but they have bigger boats.
