This classic sausage and peppers recipe is sure to please just about any meat-lover. Sausage and peppers compliment each other very well - both in taste and texture. You may not be able to call this an elegant recipe, but it is definitely delicious.
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 30 minutes
We heat the oil in a large pan, over medium heat. We add the sausages and cook, turning frequently. We want them browned all over and this takes about 10 minutes. We add the onions and stir up the browned bits on the bottom of the pan. After a couple of minutes, we add the mushrooms. Then after another 2 minutes, we add the peppers, garlic, salt, pepper, and dried oregano. After lowering the heat we cook for another 5-10 minutes until the vegetables are tender and the sausages are cooked through.
- 8 sausage, italian hot
- 2 tablespoons oil, olive
- 1 large onion, halved and sliced
- 6 mushrooms, white button, sliced
- 2 large peppers, red, seeded and sliced into pieces
- 1 pepper, green, seeded and sliced into pieces
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- salt & pepper, to taste
- 1 teaspoon oregano, dried
Cooking note: For BBQ you can also Grill the sausage and Then cook them in the sauce for 15 min.
Also for something different you can just core the peppers and leave whole to be cooked on the grill.
