Yes, you have to buy it, we don't talk about pirated software here.

From the forum rules:
Warez Talk is NOT ALLOWED. This means replies like "You Can Find it in X" are not welcome. This also means threads like "omg i need a winxp cdkey plz kthx" are likely to be locked/deleted at a minimum, and likely get you banned. Don't post links to, or request, warez, cracks, torrent sites, keygens or illegal patchers.

Ok, and that's called piracy.

At school they pirated the games? I don't think so. Anyhow, you probably know more about computers than I do so I know I'm not right about this one.

jung, when the original doom came out, it was downloadable because the developers wanted it to be. i really dont know where to find it though.

Wait a sec, maybe the game USED to be downloadable and now isn't. Anyhow, I will still buy it seeing as how its outdated with crappy graphics and will only cost like $5 or something like that. The only problem is I have a WinXP and I don't think they make the game for Windows, but my Super Nintendo might have it.

I have that game! It's wonderful!

I believe it's public domain now, the last time I checked.

It's a standard Win16 app, it should run fit as a fiddle under XP, unless it suffers from a similar bug such as Descent I & II. I know SimAnt has an adjustment for the CPU speed, so this may be an issue.

Descent has the dreaded "No Framecap" bug, so modern systems calculate the FPU instructions so quickly that it moves in fast forward. Doom has a much milder version of this bug.

SimAnt will most likely suffer from a similar non-FPU issue.

Oh, and the SNES version sucks choads :D.

The demo was downloadable, not the full game. I remember when Doom came out for the PC, I had to get my dad to buy it.

Maybe they paid for them?

Anyway, if you can't find it from searching, or Descent (If it is public domain), maybe you can check Ebay.

Yes, but that was the shareware version. I feel that id should stop making a couple thousand dollars on it a year and make it public domain like 3DRealms did with Duke3D and Parallax Software did with Descent I & II.

You can get a shareware version here:

www.dosgamesarchive.com

To allow it to run under Windows:

http://www.doomsdayhq.com/

To play free Internet Multiplayer over Windows:

www.zdaemon.org

Damn, how i miss the times of Doom !

<le sigh> I can remember, that i got my 1st computer for X-mas, it was a 486, and i had only PainBrush to have fun with >.<

Then, my parents told me, and my bro, to choose a game for ourselves.

I got the Fury of the Furries, damn, now THAT was a game, first i was playing it on my firends' dad's orange-monitor Toshiba.

And my bro got the F-117 simulator...i can remember him playing for hours, and hours, dropping bombs on fuel-tanks, and getting medals, like Purple Heart, when he got his ass shot down.

Sorry for off-topic, but i couldn't resist :/

. I have the demo of that, it fucking owns!

Novalogic's F-22 Lightning II and Comanche Maximum Overkill were even better!

I played those religiously back in 1998 on my Compaq Prolinea 486DX2-66 with my amazing 1MB Tseng Labs ET4000 video chip and my whopping 12MB of fast page RAM. Oh, and it had a 120MB hard drive too :).

Yeah, my rig sucked. But I do miss it dearly...

EDIT: Oh yeah! Who can forget my Aztech Sound Galaxy 16 sound card?! I still have it today...Wonderful piece of equipment.

Well, what makes you beleive its public domain?

Also, I'm seriously still wondering which store would still sell such an old game. Now I hafta take out the yellow pages, call around, and then spend a few bucks on the game. Like seriously, I remember that game kicked ass, I also remember playin around in experiment mode, but since i was so young I sucked, big time.
