What's really funny is that it first came out in an article about urban legends. The author used it as an example of things that people will believe. Someone read the article and didn't get the point I guess.

Other interesting facts:

The coffee bean is the most commonly eaten fruit in the world.

Strawberries are closely related to roses.

Yeah I am familar with Snopes, but I have seen it on Discovery as well. I take Discovery over snopes.
