Don't use pills to fix depression. Like the commercials say, "some anti-depressants, are not for everyone."

I used to think i was horribly depressed, and I would experiment with my bi-polar girlfriends pills to see if anything good could ever come of it, but they usually make you worse, or a zombie. Becoming numb is not a solution to depression.

Other things, like aderol, just end up making you a speed freak.

Stay away from pills. Get a pet, or take up writing.

I'm 18 almost 19 and when I was 16 I lost my best friend (almost sister) to a bad crowd with drugs and stuff like that. Needless to say, I became very depressed and I was sent to a counciler. I was then sent to a psychiatrist where he prescribed me an anti-depressant, anti-anxiety, and a headache medication. I was diagnosed as clinically depressed and later diagnosed as bi-polar and went along with that explanation for about a year and a half. During this time I gained 30 pounds, became increasingly depressed, and neurotic (with cleaning and organization).
When I was 17 or so, I started bringing my friends in with me to my doctors appts. because I just wanted to show them that my doc was crazy, and he was. My mother didn't believe me so I quit my medication anyway for 3 months and went to my doctors appt. I brought my best friend at the time in to vouge for me. I told him I want to stop taking the medication, and he told me that he didn't recommend it because I would go threw withdrawals and I would become increasingly moody. My friend told him that I, perhaps, got even happier when I was off them. He told her that she wouldn't see side effects for at least three weeks, but I had been off for 3 months. I disproved his theory that I had bi-polar disorder, and then he proceeded to tell me that I have siezures. This guy was really messed up, and just wanted to keep me on medication and in his office, so he would make more money.
The moral of this long ass story is to never go to a psychiatrist, they will just tell you that you have problems that you don't really have. Take an over the counter drug, like Paxil, and talk to you closest friends, or people who are willing to listen. Don't get caught up in doctors and feel bad about yourself, it will only make it worse.

Those pills are designed for long term use and would not work correctly unless taken for about a month. When someone is on the pills at first, they are like a zombie, but after long term use, it gets more normal, and you become very depressed again. And when this happens you are usually prescribed more. So you're right: don't take em.
Animals do help too.

Exactly. It's some underground way for those damn doctors and prescription companies to rake in more dough.

I did the paxil thing for like 2 months (I was aware you had to take em for a while before you notice "effectiveness") and the only thing that ever came from taking those shitty pills was weird rampages, numbness, and alchoholism.

The Paxil CR capsules are worse. Feel shitty ALL day in a nice time released manor.

Yeah.. it actually really sucks, but it can be a whole lot worse if you go through psychiatrists. I don't know.. if it makes you feel better to take something, I'd try the Paxil CR... and if it's as bad as Havok says it is.. then you should stop and take up a hobby.
I would think you're in your teens.. maybe around 15?? All I have to say is the depression gets better, so wait it out, don't kill yourself or anything.

Indeed. Most depression cases receed as you get to the age of about 18, or 19. The teen angst bullshit will go away with time. You'll realize that discovering yourself is quite a difficult task, and you just have to be very patient with it. It's going to take a whole lifetime to figure out who you are in entirety. Well, I can't speak for everyone on that, but from my little experience, and the experience of my woeful friends, patience is a virtue.

Yeah. Your depression should go away soon enough. I'm on an anti-depressant, Risperdal, but only because I can't sleep without it, due to the ADHD. It helps me wind down. I really don't take it for stress though.

Don't EVER get on Paxil. That is the most dangerous anti-depressant out there. The one I'm on is pretty mild, but it makes you eat a lot.

That was one of the reasons I didn't want to go off my anxiety drug, because I couldn't sleep. You get over it in a week, but it definitely keeps you were it wants you.

Feeling indifernet is a pain in the ass. I know. And I hate it. But luckily, in my house that doesn't last too long cuz it's only a matter of seconds before someone comes and royally pisses you off. Anyway, good luck with ur situation. I hope things get better for ya!
