ok, sorry to post this here, but does anyone know of a web-friendly graphic file format that has more than 256 colors and supports transparency? my avatar could look much better, and i could use other things with transparency that would make them look more dynamic. but i don't know enough about the file formats, y'kno?

thx much,

I wish I knew of something, have you tried PNG? I don't know if that supports transparency or not. It's not 256 color, but it's pretty damn small (Has better image quality too).

Any obscure format may not be supported in most web browsers. You would need a plug in, which would of course keep many people from seeing it.

I'm sure you know all this stuff, just thought I would try to give you some ideas.
