When I was younger my nic-names included "fat ass" and "tub 'o' lard" amongst others.

So I decide to really buckle down and loose the weight. It really got to me when we were shopping with a friend's of mine's grandparents and we wanted the same shirt or something, but there was only one left. Her grandpa turned to me and said, "Aren't you just a bit too fat to wear that anyway honey? Why don't you let Holly have it?" I was so hurt. I was only like 14 at the time.

So a year later I had lost a good 40 lbs. I went from about 230 lbs. to about 180 lbs.

Well, last summer I put on about 10 lbs. and slowly during this year I've gained another 10 lbs.

I'm bound and determined to be thin and healthy. So here's my post. I refuse to be called fat ass anymore. I refuse to shop in the "plus size" section of the store. I refuse to feel like shit cuz I'm not as thin as other ppl. I'm taking a stand for my health and my waist line.

Wish me luck cuz weight loss is a total bitch and I don't like the process very much.

P.s. The picture is of me when I was in 8th grade.

Not to be offensive or anything, but a good low carb diet could be in order!! my mom has lost over 50 pounds in 4-5 months, and she is still on the diet!! Its not a bad diet, you eat all the regular foods with out all the bread and pasta!! Al sugars attract fat also!

Just Try to saty away from all those carbs!!

I know. I'm a carb fiend (sp?) I've switched to whole wheat pasta and bread to help. Plus, I really can't have too many carbs cuz I have IBS and carbs make me feel sick. Thanks for the advice though! Maybe I'll try the south beach diet.

If you're really interested in losing weight, I'd suggest researching different dieting methods before you do it. The level of commitment to which some diets require you to adhere can be to limiting for many people. While a strong commitment is needed in any event, different diets work for different people. http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/index.html

Also, my dad drinks a lot of protein shakes!! then after words he goes to the gym and works out.. the benifit of that is, you shed pounds and get the desired muscle.. thats what i have been focusing on. Drink a lot of protein, work out. come home and take some vitamiens!!

Vitamiens are good way to help shed pounds!!!

And also, dont try those products out there that help you lose pounds. Ya, you may lose a lot of pounds taking the pills, but that means you would get them back just as fast!!

Yeah. Last time I cut way back on how much I was eating and on what I was eating. I used to be able to eat a whole pizza and still be hungry and now I can barely finish a hotdog. So I think I need to concentrate more on good healthy foods and getting up and moving.

One good way to get healthier is to just increase the amount of moving you do during the day, in addition to exercize.

Pace while you're on the telephone. If you're waiting for a download to finish, do some stretches. Park in a parking spot away from the building you want to go to, etc etc.

Also, do you read Seventeen magazine? Within the past year, they've adopted a new section which is REALLY helpful. Every month, they give a new workout to tone different parts of your body, and in that same section talk about health and food and stuff like that. It's a REALLY good guide for those who don't have books or fad diets or anything like that.

Good for you, girl! Take a stand. I joined weight watchers, and within the first week I lost 3.8 pounds. They let you eat what you want, but teach you to eat in moderation by following the point system, and they also encourage exercise (sp?) that fits into your every day lifestyle. That first week of weight loss for me was without any extra exercising besides my Tuesday and Thursday aerobics class. I'd recommend joining, but remember to look around first to see what fits your lifestyle best.

Hmmm, yet another good reason to have lots of rough animalistic sex........

On a more serious note: Good for you Mags! Lose that weight for YOURSELF, not those shallow-ass dipshits who tell you you're fat. Fuck 'em. They aren't worth your time anyway.

Just don't go for some fad diet. Lose the weight safely.

Good luck, girl! :D

Whoa, hold up there. I have seen at least a dozen women easily twice as fat when I was in 8th grade. In fact, they still are. And this is Long Island here. NOT "The Stix."

If you want to see fat people, move to Dix Hills, NY, USA. It's the fat capital of NY - everyone is incredibly stupid and rich off inheritance.

Also, you have the advantage of intelligence. I am sure you can pull it off. Never doubt yourself. You have the advantage of mindpower and willpower.

That diet is a complete load of crap. If she ever goes off she's going to gain it all back two fold. And I can't stress this enough. CARBS. ARE. IMPORTANT.

Exercise is still your best option. I suggest finding someone to exercise with (preferably someone who's been exercising already, so they don't burn out and just stop) to help keep you working out, and vice versa. Obviously, joining a gym with them is a great way to get going if you can afford it. Otherwise just go jogging or jump rope.

Carbohydrates provide you the energy to do what you need to do every day. What you need to do is find a way to burn more calories than you take in. No diet can completely do the job for you, you've got to exercise too.

And once you get your weight down to the desired level, don't stop doing what got you there in the first place, or you'll end up right back where you are now.

Good luck to you.

Magnolia there is another option.

You can accept who you are, find people who do the same, and just ignore the stupid people. They will ALWAYS find a reason to make fun of you or act like assholes, it's what they do. You can never be free of the morons who feel better by insulting people. Do what you feel is right, losing weight is not a cure all. It just makes them look for reasons other than weight to figure out why you suck.

Oh, wow, how could I have missed this? He's right. If you're bound and determined to be thin and healthy, do it for the right reasons. The only one that's important is for yourself.

Just want to say it's extremely common to gain weight around the 8th grade. I did and so did many others I knew. It's good to be conscious of your weight but only for the purpose of staying healthy. You're still young and you should be able to pull it off a lot easier. Just be careful, don't do what most people do and stop eating and go to the gym like crazy. That's absolutely unhealthy. Swimming and bicycle riding is great.

The other #1 is stearing away from sweets like pastries, cake and all that stuff. Substitute it with fruits and veggies. It's not as hard as it seems.

You're doing alright.

And another thing, don't listen to what people say about your weight. I heard it a lot and I wasn't even heavy. When I was 14, I was 5'6" and weighed 145. It was so fucking annoying and only damages your self-esteem.
