Black Hawk Down. Noone has heard of it, but it kicked so much ass.
and Metal Gear Solid 3 was very addictive.

As far as storytelling FF VII does indeed own all. As far as overall gameplay and just being fun as hell I'd probably hafta go with the GTAs. Ah hell video games just kick ass in general.

I was also a huge fan of Ninja Gaiden, Battle Toads, Red Faction, some of the Ultima and Final fantasy games and the KOTOR series. Also, there is a long list of FPS games that I won't bother mentioning.
