oh man... that sucks... but your insurance SHOULD cover everything. You should get a nice hefty check from your insurance company which should make buying a new one much easier on you.

HAVE YOU GUYS EVER ACTUALLY DEALT WITH AN INSURANCE COMPANY?!!?

i've had two cars stolen from right in front of my house. the first time i was unprepared, without current photos of the car and without an independent appraisal. they offered me $dick-up-the-ass for it. after taking them through an independent appraiser and going to arbitration, i got $13,000 for a car which had received a $6000 body and paint job THIRTEEN DAYS PRIOR; the shit hadn't even finished curing.

insurance companies are profit-bearing businesses. THEY DON'T WANT TO GIVE YOU MONEY AND THEY WILL AVOID GIVING YOU MORE THAN THEY HAVE TO.

my suggestion to you is to make sure you always have recent pictures of important parts of your vehicles. hopefully since you just got the bike you were excited and took pics. if they're digital, use www.ofoto.com or a similar service to have them printed. give this to your insurance company to supplement your claim.

my insurance company (USAA) has never given me any problem, and when I had an accident with my car they handled everything smoothly and in a timely fashion. maybe your insurance company just sucks?

i have AS LONG AS I WANT to read your handle on these forums, and it's even displayed when i'm typing a reply. it's more than enough time to SPELL IT RIGHT.

i don't live in a ghetto; i live in the sf bay area. the ghetto sometimes cruises by looking for shit to steal or people to harrass. we have this light rail called "anonymous getaway service;" they abbreviate that with the letters "BART" for some reason. it makes it really easy for the ghetto to tour the decent areas (maybe $2.50 round trip) and decide what they want to take home with them. anything smaller than a vcr will fit in their pockets and ride back on the train, and anything much larger has enough wheels to carry itself away.

if you ever think your insurance company gives a half a damn about you, you're incorrect. insurance companies care about maximizing profits (that's revenue takeaway cost, for your "business major"). insurance AGENTS have the job of appearing as a liaison between you and your insurance COMPANY. they make money by selling the company's insurance to you, and they make MORE money by minimizing the payout your insurance company has to give you when you file a claim.

the point i'm trying to make is just that insurance companies hate you. if they have a chance to cut you, they will.

now, tbrsk, you got in an accident; the car was there and they could see it, which means YOU could show it to anyone. of course they were nicer; it's harder to bullshit and say things like "well we have no evidence that it looked that nice."

ps - pimpyobitch, i realize you've taken our mutual animosity outside of b&t. you can rest assured: as my grad program started today, i won't be around nearly as frequently to bother you.

but you should still at least make an EFFORT to spell my handle correctly. it's way shorter than yours. is your attention span REALLY shorter than seven letters? i pity you.
