Fucking funny! See what gas drives people to do....

MINOT, N.D. (AP) - Jim Jundt was so determined to rein in his spending on gasoline that he got out of bed early and rode his 14-year-old quarterhorse mare to work.

Jundt lives 15 miles south of Minot and works as a mechanic at Goodyear Tire & Auto Service in the city.

He said he and his co-workers had been talking about rising fuel prices, and he joked that he would ride his horse to work if gasoline ever hit $3 a gallon.

His co-workers laughed, but when the price at the pump soared to $3.20 last week, Jundt headed for the barn.

He said he was only five minutes late riding his mare, Patty, to work.

While he worked, Patty waited patiently, eating hay out of the back of a truck.

That's hilarious, but wouldn't a 12-speed be quicker?
He made a bet that he would ride a horse when the gas prices hit 3 dollars a gallon. A 12 speed would be out of the question.

True, but at least he would have the satisfaction of knowing that the government is'nt shafting him from behind every time he get's in his car.

Right so GAS is tax free then?

Where do you think the extra money that oil companies are charging you is going?
Not in there own pockets!!!!!!
In the U.K. the government takes 88pence of the 92pence the oil companies get so i really dont think the governments are blameless.

in america taxes are pretty much static... they dont change... the price goes up because of private business... not government...

You lucky bastards!!! (figure of speech)

In the U.K. if the Queen farts tax goes up
if a train is late the fair goes up
if a pub is busy the drinks go up
if the roads are busy the car tax goes up
And if you wanna drive your car in London they tax you 3 times, once on your car tax then on your fuel in your car and if that aint enough they charge you a congestion penalty.

Anything that happens in the U.K. is apparently solved by hitting you in the pocket.
Any FUCKER could do that!!!!!

Actually FUCK IT i'll run for PM myself

In Canada the gas tax is helping to fund public transit across the country! And the congestion penalty in London is so popular that Ken Livingston was going to raise it, not sure if he did though...
My friend, do you know what taxes do? They pay for everything the goovernment does. Every single thing. Do you want to know something interesting? THe country withe the highest standards of living according to the UN human development index, Norway, has some of the highest taxes in the world, over 40% of the GDP.

I despise Tony Blair, I'm old school Labour. A socialist. I believe in higher taxes and more of the means of production controlled by the people. I believe in direct democracy, or at least a more robust and participative representative one.
Also, I would love to see your sources, that sounds like :bs: to me.

Is a 12 speed bicycle really faster than a horse?
Depends on the rider, a horse can get up to 70KpH, don't know about bikes...

I was actually thinking of a horse on pavement vs. bicycle on pavement.

It's not very friendly towards equines to run them on pavement. ;)

Situation would definitely be different if the 15 miles between his home and work were a giant pasture.

Can't really put your horse on the bike rack everyday either.

Well, if the horse is wearing shoes the road doesn't matter very much.
