Everything you'd ever need to know about malware prevention and removal.

Also, if you have cable internet some slow speeds are to be expected.(during peak hours.)

you could just reformat your hard drive to start fresh if you don't mind.
then regularly do a disk clean up, defrag, get a firewall, an internet cookie cleaner, & anti-virus program.

Not that hard but takes time.

After that, download Mozilla Firefox here:

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/0.10.1/Firefox Setup 1.0PR.exe

Install it, and use this for surfing the web instead of Internet Explorer. This will prevent spyware and vriuses from being installed when you surf the web.
By using this as opposed to IE, your system will never bog down again.
BAH!!!

You have alotta good suggestions here! But if your still not satisfied try "System Mechanics" I Gaurantee you will love this program, it allows you to dive deep in your computer ( metaphorically speaking ) and seek out the problem! Good LucK!

Sure, if you like malware and security holes. SP2 isn't the answer to MSs security flaws, it only addresses a few problems. You don't need to be a "computer nerd", just to practice good security.

Amen, Jungie. I'm installing updates for my main box right now.

Server 2003 may be insecure, but it still is WAY more secure than XP. I have only had a about 14 or so updates since it came out.

My Cisco PIX box(501) at home makes everything alright.;) I still dont' see why XP Pro is so bad(relative), but that's a different conversation.
