What's new on Gmail?
Just launched!

G is for growth
Storage is an important part of email, but that doesn't mean you should have to worry about it. To celebrate our one-year birthday, we're giving everyone one more gigabyte. But why stop the party there? Our plan is to continue growing your storage beyond 2GBs by giving you more space as we are able. We know that email will only become more important in people's lives, and we want Gmail to keep up with our users and their needs. From Gmail, you can expect more.

Wow, you need to get to downloading. Most people I know are at a loss for hard drive space.

Honestly, WHY would anyone even need 1 gig? Now they're offering two? I'm going to go check my g-mail now.

G-mail is quite annoying due to the fact that it takes forever to delete your mail.

Huh? Why do you even need to delete your email? That's the entire point in having so much space; so you never need to delete your mail. The few mails that I have deleted, took no more than a second to delete though.

Well, spam goes to spam section, but what about the stuff that you set as your e-mail address on gmail and then you repeatedly get e-mails from there? It's annoying. You have no need for those e-mails. Perfectly reasonable to delete them. Illogical to keep them.

You can mark anything you want as spam... or if you don't want to read it, you can mark it as read.

Shrug. It's not illogical to keep them if you have 2 gigs of memory.

Oh god, how hard is it to just click 'check all' then click 'delete?' How is any other web based email any faster?

Doesn't your spam get filtered anyway? I've yet to have a single spam email delivered to my actual inbox, however my spam box does get some mails. It's nothing that two mouse clicks can't solve though. I seriously think you're just fishing for something to complain about though, we already know you're an anti-Google zealot.

rofl. I just had to complain about google.

No, I just find it a pain. Why wouldn't you want to delete your e-mail? I just find no reason to have so much.

I just fail to see how it's a pain. Old mail just goes to the next page, then eventually gets archived. Are you obsessive compulsive to the point where you just HAVE to delete your mail or something?

I like this idea because I don't have to constantly delete mail to create more space. Now I can keep important emails without having to worry about space. Moreover, I can check my mail and then just close the window, I don't have to delete mail every time I check my account. It makes life simpler.

With Yahoo mail I was constantly having to either delete or export the emails that I wanted to keep, just to make room for new messages.

You are currently using 15 MB (1%) of your 2054 MB.

From responses on another forum, it seems that a lot of people are actually getting more than 2GB. I still doubt we're actually getting a real 2GB, but it's still more storage than any other free web mail service out there.

Not to pick on you, but did you know that you can add +whatever to your address and filter messages based upon that? For instance, when you sign up for forums or whatever you can enter [email protected] (assuming that your email is [email protected]), then set up a filtering rule to automagically catch and sort any replies to that email address. You can use the + operator an unlimited amount of times, and for whatever you want. I use +spam, +reg and +work for mine.
