I absolutely hate Open Office. The only thing that's even remotely good about the program is that it's free. The rest of it is just... meh.

Have you used Abiword? It's very small, light weight, fast and useful. I highly recommend it if you don't use advanced features in Word Processors. It's a must try (8 MB download).
But it has bad performance when the document is large.

Rainmeter is a highly customizable application that allows you to place several skins (think of them as widgets) on your desktop. You can create skins from scratch if you like, but you can also find several user made skins on DeviantArt and other sites.

I'm sorry to double post, but I can't edit my previous post.

Teracopy

TeraCopy is a compact program designed to copy and move files at the maximum possible speed, providing the user a lot of features:

* Copy files faster. TeraCopy uses dynamically adjusted buffers to reduce seek times. Asynchronous copy speeds up file transfer between two physical hard drives.
* Pause and resume file transfers. Pause copy process at any time to free up system resources and continue with a single click.
* Error recovery. In case of copy error, TeraCopy will try several times and in the worse case just skips the file, not terminating the entire transfer.
* Interactive file list. TeraCopy shows failed file transfers and lets you fix the problem and recopy only problem files.
* Shell integration. TeraCopy can completely replace Explorer copy and move functions, allowing you work with files as usual.
* Full Unicode support.
* Windows 7 x64 support.
CDisplay

CDisplay is an image viewer for anyone who reads comic volumes. It even has the ability to load compressed archives.

THERE'S A NEW VERSION OF foobar2000.org
O:
Not sure if it's just in my head, but it sounds better than the old version, but it might just have different default settings that I didn't think of changing in older versions.

Also, I love open office. I have free version of MSoffice 2007, but I still use open office writer for most things I need to type. Unless I need to do something "fancy" (viewing comments made/making comments, pretty much and a few other minor things), I just use open office. Interface is nicer imo, and it doesn't really make a huge difference when you're just typing a document.

* Organize music and edit tags in your audio library with a powerful, intuitive interface.
* Automatically lookup and tag Album Art and other metadata.
* Manage 50,000+ files in your music collection without bogging down.
* Manage all genres of audio: Rock, Classical, Audiobooks, Comedy, Podcasts, etc.

* Play MP3s and other audio formats, and never again worry about varying volume.
* Record CDs and convert MP3s, M4A, OGG, FLAC and WMA files etc. into other formats.
* Create playlists and let Auto-DJ & Party Mode take care of your party.
* Sync iPhones, iPods, & MP3 players, converting & leveling tracks on-the-fly.

I started using it after it was recommended by a friend about a week and I have to say it has all of the features of songbird and it is a hell of a lot faster,not to mention it works insanely well with windows 7. Also it is free which is a huge bonus though there is a gold version with even more features.

I'm gonna say Comodo antivi. Or fuck, ANYTHING but Norton.
Comodo asks you what to do with something it doesnt like, and it uses very good judgement on what it should ask about.
It's like a little kid in the bottom right of my screen pulling my sleeve and saying "What's thaaaaaaaaaat?" whenever I'm watching porn.

Oh I know, right?
Hey thanks for that post. I didnt figure it would be freeware until I checked it out. I'm having trouble loading a few particular plug-ins, though, but Its mixer still beats the hell out the pathetic one I'm using now.

I find this very useful if you have more than one monitor for your computer.

Sorry I can't post the link yet but if you search "Multi-Monitor Taskbar" in Google it'll be the first link there.

With Multi Monitor Taskbar:

You get a second task bar is added to the extended monitor and it displays item from that monitor while primary taskbar displays items from the primary window...

TaskBar (freeware)

*It adds second taskbar to the extended desktop on Monitor 2
*It can add third taskbar to the second Extended monitor if you have 3 monitors setup.
*It shows only applications from that Monitor
*It hides the applications on Monitor 2 and 3 from normal Windows Taskbar
*Adds a Move to Monitor button to windows applications (XP).
*Add Text Clipboard Extender
*Buttons to roll-right the taskbar (good for full screen Remote Desktop)

Sumatra PDF reader is now my favourite PDF reader. It's very small, loads quickly and is minimalistic. Just uninstalled Foxit Reader.
I recently switched to Sumatra and I'm very happy that I did.
