Edub beat me to it, but props on admitting your mistake. That already puts you ahead of most of the members here. I'll rep you for that.

I wouldn't say that it was as bad as alcohol can be but by and large it is more dangerous than cigarettes just because of the tar in it. I forget what the numbers are (and really, who knows who performed the research on it?) but, I do remember that Marijuana had almost three times the amount. No filters on a spliff, yanno? But, nonetheless, people will do to themselves what they want to do to themselves.
No chemicals in marijuana have ever been proven to be carcinogenic. The study stating the 3x figure or the 25 cigarettes = 1 joint figures, are just projections, they’re largely just theory. I posted the links in another thread; both studies state that marijuana cigarettes
may render those effects. I do agree that there are more active chemical in marijuana, but the cold hard facts just aren’t there. Marijuana is a relatively timid drug when compared to alcohol.

my veiw on cannabis...
i smoked like a fuckin train about a year ago. i was really dumb. i quit school, i totally screwed up my life. and i didnt even realise it was cos i smoked pot all the time.
See, I guess that’s a case by case thing; I’m 25 and I’ve smoked on and off since I was 15. I’ve never been too lazy to maintain a job or any other normal activities. I smoked heavily through college, quit when I joined the military and continue to smoke to this day. I hold a career as an IT manager (actual title is Network Admin, but I have a managerial position), pay my bills on time and function like any normal person. I don’t put my laziness or problems off on some drug; but then again I’m a pretty responsible person. (Not to say that you aren’t, some people just take to stimuli differently) Smoking doesn’t cause me any ill; I don’t see why I shouldn’t be able to do it in the comfort of my own house. Furthermore, my smoking doesn’t harm anyone else.

everyone thought i was cool because i was such a smoker. people that want weed can have it. why make it mainstream? why screw a new generation up? cannabis is evil.
If you were smoking to achieve some social status, you’re just silly; possibly misled. Legalization might actually make marijuana use drop; in it’s illegal state, it’s a forbidden fruit so to speak. People, possibly even you, do it because it’s illegal and the cool thing to do. Now, look at alcohol; it’s sale and consumption is regulated by the government. Sure,
some illegal sale and consumption take place, that’s inevitable, but I’d be willing to bet that those figures would pale in comparison to the illicit sale and consumption of marijuana. So, would legalization stand to lessen underage purchase and consumption of marijuana? Most likely, yes. Do you really think there would be much of a black market for marijuana, if it were legal? Hardly! There would likely be
some, but it would more closely resemble the alcohol issues.
How would marijuana “screw an generation up?” You say that, but don’t’ offer any supporting statements, it’s just an opinion. The same goes for “cannabis is evil.” What about the extra revenue that marijuana taxation could provide? What about the regulation that federal and state governments would have after legalization? Both would benefit the general populace, not only the smokers. I think you’ve failed to explore some of the key points in this issue.

people that need it to relieve pain can get it. there is no shortage. i have seen alot of people just totaly fuck there brains over with that stuff.
In the states that isn’t the case, it’s only in certain areas. You obviously neglected to read my previous post; marijuana has NEVER been proven to cause any long term effect to the brain. You can believe anything you want, but it’s just baseless assumptions, without facts.

because that shit, no matter what people say is evil as fuck. it should not be legalised as everyone that wants it can have it!!!!
Ignorance truly is bliss, isn’t it? What about the people receiving jail time over marijuana? Legalization would cut down on marijauana related arrested and detention, therefore cutting down on taxes paid to support those actions. It can be argued that those numbers would be insignifigant, but any little bit helps, no?
