Hello ranters, I know that this topic has pissed off many a person, so I think that I'll start my own bitching post here. The topic of course is the legalization of Marijuana, I know that alot of you anti-druggies are going to lynch me THE second that you read this, but fuck it, I don't care.

I think that the government should make it legal, because of all of the money that it is costing us to imprison/incarcerate people who got busted smoking a joint or having a bud in their pocket, its wasting our money and it's wasting our jail space for the people who REALLY deserve to be in the jail system. I am a productive, active member of society, and I am a total stoner, I haven't hurt anyone, I haven't broken any laws (other than the pot law) in my pursuit of happiness, it helps me to keep from knocking stupid fuckers heads' off when I get pissed.

I am writing this because I am soon due to go to the huskow for having a joint in my car, fucking cops. if you have any contributions, similar stories, please post. Thanks alot.

Fuck the police!!! :mfinger: :gun:

This should be in "The issues"
but anyway, I don't think marijuana should be legal, increased car accidents would be one argument. Some people it would boost the fast-food economy up. But if make it legalized everyone wants to get stoned and go to mcdonalds, but fast food makes them fat. :thumbsdn:
I could keep going, but I'm going to go look at porn.

dont do this....dont let your first post be about weed....identifying yourself with the use of drugs is the most retarded thing you can do, on the internet or in real life. You could just use the search function and find the fifty million other threads about this shit, but i'll humor you. This was one of the first threads i threw up as well. Mine was an anti legalization thread. I am of the opinion that if it were legalized then it would lead to increased taxes on it, making it even more expensive then it is on the street. If you look at what happened when big corporation got their hands into tobbacco, I think you could see the future of weed, decreased THC levels, addictive substances being added, basically the weed you would buy from "Marlboro" would be nothing like what you get now. The only advantage I could see would be the ease of acquisition but I dont think you would buy alot of shitty weed off of your nextdoor neighbor if you could drive three blocks and get some dank. I suppose for most people, the most attractive aspect of legalization is the legalization, but is it really that big a deal? I've been smoking for 4 years steady now and have not been caught once, by anyone. I'm gonna make a bold statement here and say that marijuana is the most popular illegal drug in the US, if you were to compare the amount of people being arrested for possesion to the amount of people who are possesing, i think you'd understand where i'm coming from. You got caught, that makes you a biased debator, if weed were legal, you would get off. Although the penalties are ridiculous considering the crime, they arent that bad, in Florida anything over 20 grams is either jail or probation, I smoke alot more than your average person and I never carry anything over 7 or 8 grams (1/4-ish) so whats the big fucking deal....next time dont be such a dumbass and take the shit out of your car.

Guess what, you're the first person to ever make a post on this topic! You win "teh" prize. Use the search please, this topic has been discussed to death. Instead of making your first thread a redux, you couldn've replied to the previous thread.

Only thing I will say about this:

Cigarette problems can be reversed.
Alcohol problems too.

Dead neurones have no way back.

I wouldn't really care about the legalization; I just know I'll be very smart as soon as everyone fries their neurons and I have mine intact.

Only thing is that you're information is misinformation. Marijuana has never been proven to have long term effects on neurons, intelligence or the ability to learn.

http://www.nida.nih.gov/ResearchReports/marijuana/Marijuana3.html

Health Consequences of Marijuana Abuse
Acute (present during intoxication)

* Impairs short-term memory
* Impairs attention, judgment, and other cognitive functions
* Impairs coordination and balance
* Increases heart rate

Persistent (lasting longer than intoxication, but may not be permanent)

* Impairs memory and learning skills

Long-term (cumulative, potentially permanent effects of chronic abuse)

* Can lead to addiction
* Increases risk of chronic cough, bronchitis, and emphysema
* Increases risk of cancer of the head, neck, and lungs

legalize

this topic has been beat to death in forums everywhere. i am for legalization and realize the cons outweigh whatever good reefer might do. i too, have been busted, put in jail and it sucked. i've stopped bitching only because, as bigck3000 pointed out, irresponsibilty is key to fucking up. keep it out of sight and in your circle and you have no problem. or you could be a dumbass, like myself. i know this reads two-faced but if the gov't stands to make a profit from legalization(probably recouping the losses from failed drug war) leave it alone. Stoners'll get smart sometime between now and forever.

Yeah, that does sound a bit odd, or at least misleading. Just like the addiction bit, marijuana, like anything else, can become mentally addictive, but physical addiction has never been proven. So why do we inform people of it's potential to be addicting? You don't see this warning on food products, personal hygene products, alcohol?

The "war on drugs" has become more about being right and making money, than anything else.

They have warnings, but nothing clearly stating the possibility of addiction. At least none that I've ever seen.

I'm a bit curious as to which time period you're referring to, and where you got this information.

my veiw on cannabis...

i smoked like a fuckin train about a year ago. i was really dumb. i quit school, i totally screwed up my life. and i didnt even realise it was cos i smoked pot all the time. everyone thought i was cool because i was such a smoker. people that want weed can have it. why make it mainstream? why screw a new generation up? cannabis is evil. theres no doubt about it. people that need it to relieve pain can get it. there is no shortage. i have seen alot of people just totaly fuck there brains over with that stuff.

when i was abit younger i thought yeh, i really want it to be legal, well now ive changed my mind. because that shit, no matter what people say is evil as fuck. it should not be legalised as everyone that wants it can have it!!!!

sorry i fucked up on this "fact" :dunce:

Hell, at least you are willing to admit it. Who the hell knows what is going to happen with this topic. I did that shit back in high school ALL OF THE TIME. I wouldn't say that it was as bad as alcohol can be but by and large it is more dangerous than cigarettes just because of the tar in it. I forget what the numbers are (and really, who knows who performed the research on it?) but, I do remember that Marijuana had almost three times the amount. No filters on a spliff, yanno? But, nonetheless, people will do to themselves what they want to do to themselves.

Edub beat me to it, but props on admitting your mistake. That already puts you ahead of most of the members here. I'll rep you for that.

No chemicals in marijuana have ever been proven to be carcinogenic. The study stating the 3x figure or the 25 cigarettes = 1 joint figures, are just projections, they’re largely just theory. I posted the links in another thread; both studies state that marijuana cigarettes may render those effects. I do agree that there are more active chemical in marijuana, but the cold hard facts just aren’t there. Marijuana is a relatively timid drug when compared to alcohol.

See, I guess that’s a case by case thing; I’m 25 and I’ve smoked on and off since I was 15. I’ve never been too lazy to maintain a job or any other normal activities. I smoked heavily through college, quit when I joined the military and continue to smoke to this day. I hold a career as an IT manager (actual title is Network Admin, but I have a managerial position), pay my bills on time and function like any normal person. I don’t put my laziness or problems off on some drug; but then again I’m a pretty responsible person. (Not to say that you aren’t, some people just take to stimuli differently) Smoking doesn’t cause me any ill; I don’t see why I shouldn’t be able to do it in the comfort of my own house. Furthermore, my smoking doesn’t harm anyone else.

If you were smoking to achieve some social status, you’re just silly; possibly misled. Legalization might actually make marijuana use drop; in it’s illegal state, it’s a forbidden fruit so to speak. People, possibly even you, do it because it’s illegal and the cool thing to do. Now, look at alcohol; it’s sale and consumption is regulated by the government. Sure, some illegal sale and consumption take place, that’s inevitable, but I’d be willing to bet that those figures would pale in comparison to the illicit sale and consumption of marijuana. So, would legalization stand to lessen underage purchase and consumption of marijuana? Most likely, yes. Do you really think there would be much of a black market for marijuana, if it were legal? Hardly! There would likely be some, but it would more closely resemble the alcohol issues.

How would marijuana “screw an generation up?” You say that, but don’t’ offer any supporting statements, it’s just an opinion. The same goes for “cannabis is evil.” What about the extra revenue that marijuana taxation could provide? What about the regulation that federal and state governments would have after legalization? Both would benefit the general populace, not only the smokers. I think you’ve failed to explore some of the key points in this issue.

In the states that isn’t the case, it’s only in certain areas. You obviously neglected to read my previous post; marijuana has NEVER been proven to cause any long term effect to the brain. You can believe anything you want, but it’s just baseless assumptions, without facts.

Ignorance truly is bliss, isn’t it? What about the people receiving jail time over marijuana? Legalization would cut down on marijauana related arrested and detention, therefore cutting down on taxes paid to support those actions. It can be argued that those numbers would be insignifigant, but any little bit helps, no?

No chemicals in marijuana have ever been proven to be carcinogenic.
Maybe not carcinogenic, but you have to admit that inhaling the smoke from any carbon based plant/animal/whatever is going to be harmful to your lungs.

Sort of off topic here but,

Have you noticed that the same story keeps popping up "I smoked like a bear for 'x-years' then I realized the horrors of my marijuana addiction, now I know better"....sounds to generic to be true.
