hey im massively bored... so using the glory of the internet I've collected stats on the gas consumption of cars, suv's, and large trucks... I've collected data on 13 common trucks and suv's and 13 common cars.. What I need now is current statistics on how many people owned suvs and trucks vs. cars for the past 5 years... I've looked around but cant find a good source..

this will lead to a kind of proof that gas prices are due to consumption because ever dick head wants an SUV weather they need it or not...

already found with the info I do have that overall SUV's need 54% more gas and although they get 4.9% more distance in the city(go figure) they get 1.6% less on the highway..

Fyi, I just searched for "automobile ownership trends," "automobile registration trends" and "automobile registration statistics."

Also, searching for "dmv statistics" turns up a ton of state specific stuff.

thanks... I'm more aiming for a U.S. in its entirety related search rather then state individual... would think the census might have something on it but oh well...

thanks for the info tho... If yer all interested I'll post the whole thing after im done.. I'll prolly add more vehicles as I go as well to make it a bit more diversified... I've been using the fuel economy reports from the manufacturers websites so far.. some of them refuse to list them tho.. like ford wont list for the big ass excursion or the dodge durango..

also going to add the stats for hybrids...
