LOS ANGELES - Democrats aren't amused by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (news - web sites)'s use of the mocking term "girlie men" to describe some lawmakers, although a spokesman for the governor said no apology would be forthcoming.

Schwarzenegger dished out the insult at a rally Saturday as he claimed Democrats were delaying the budget by catering to special interests. Democrats protested that the remark was sexist and homophobic.

"If they don't have the guts to come up here in front of you and say, 'I don't want to represent you, I want to represent those special interests, the unions, the trial lawyers ... if they don't have the guts, I call them girlie men," Schwarzenegger said to the cheering crowd at a mall food court in Ontario.

No offense to you Kali-fornans, but how in the hell did you let that idiot become your Governor

Actually, he's quite a good governor and has kept basically every promise he made before the election like getting rid of the law Davis made so illegal aliens could have drivers licenses. I am a democrat and I am really pleased with him, and although democrats are critisizing him for being sexist and homophobic, I could care less...it's just his figure of speech. Yeah, I know 6 year old boys taunt other boys for acting like a girl when they don't want to climb a tree or something totally imature and prepubesant, but it's like a catch phrase..

schwarzenegger == good governor?

you people are insane.

he was elected because people were afraid of davis' decision to sunset the vehicle license fee reduction. that's all.

OMG THEY'RE CALLING IT A 'CAR TAX' AND I OWN A $70,000 SUV OR TWO; I'D BETTER VOTE FOR AHNOLD! FANTASTIC!!!!

maybe you shouldn't have bought the fucking hummer for you, your wife, and your one baby to drive around ON THE STREETS.

the vlf reduction is artificial and was supposed to sunset in the late 1990s. while it's true i'm unhappy with spending $170 to register my car, and i would have HATED spending $325, i would have done it. that money would have gone somewhere.

I voted for Arnold and it had nothing to do with the Lic. fee. It should have gone back up a long time ago. But that is a different subject.

Arnold is good because he is different. Let's face it, he can not fuck things up any worse than Davis and maybe, just maybe, he could be different enough to shake things up. We can all hope.

As far as his "girlie man" remark. Who cares? Don't we all have better things to worry about? The thing which confuses me is how the hell did this become gay bashing? Seriously, where you stick your penis is your own business, I don't care. This comment was not directed at them or used to reference them as an insult. They need to lighten the fuck up.

Florida did not let bush become president. Here is a little insider info: the company that creates and maintains the software and hardware for our electorial process is the 3rd largest contributor to the bush campaign.

Welsome to a democracy ran by corporate money and computerization of our freedom. Welcome to America.

Fucking YAY!

At least Arnie had the fucking balls to use his own money.

And voice, the moment you become a completely political correct person, let me know.

we californians banned the diebold machines. paper ballot voting for us.

ps, tharuz: there was no "person running against him." there were about fifty random people all running for governor in recall.

and the first question was "yes or no: should we recall davis?"

the second was "if davis is recalled, who should replace him?"

DZ:

I'm not PC, I think that's funny. But, not coming from the Governor of one of the biggest states in the nation. He's name calling, which works fine in the 3rd grade, but probably not what the voters of CA expect.

Perhaps he thinks he is in a movie or on tv. This is real life.

Should the legislators answer back that Arnold is a Big jerk, or an idiot? It just drags the whole process down, it's just unprofessional and WEIRD...

the reason that the girly man commment was such a big deal is that CA has an overwhelming amount of homosexuals look at SAn Fran its the gay capital of the US. Then there is the problem with all the liberals that go to Cali for the open lifestyle and freedom form the (evil) republicans. Now Should arnold have used the term girly men .... no he as a represinitive of the state of california should have found a diffrent term to use. But the fact remains that he is a actor turned politician, his mannerisms are not going to change over night. HE went form being able to say pretty much what ever he wanted to now haveing to censor himself that is not an easy thing to accomplish trust me I knowI am the most foul mouthed person that I know.

BullShit. I was born and raised an hour away from SF and the term has never been used as reference to gay people. Should we expect more than name calling from him, sure. But let's not make or let other people make this an attack on gay people. The two are not related.
