So how many of you loved that orange tangerine trump?

Being outside of the us, I do wonder why an orange faced, narcissi asshole like trump became the president of the USA. Moreover, how the hell the general population allowed it. No wonder Biden is creeping around the eu whispering "I'm soorry", " we're not related" , "i'II never liked the poncy ass bitch". News broadcasters incist that trump is still brass balls, uncompromising and a benchmark for corporate dickquads. How do you think his tax returns will fair? "Quarterly returns are fake news!"

My guess is everyone is tired of this discussion. In general(as in everywhere, not just here), this topic usually boils down to both sides saying "i cant see any of your points, but you better see mine" and then they unfriend each other.

I will be surprised to see the turnout on this thread if any.

I think a lot of Republicans would be happier if we had a monarchy. First, there was the Bush dynasty and now there is sort of a Trump dynasty. Donald Trump's daughter and daughter-in-law are hinting at running for office. In a democracy, people should be elected based on their policy, not their family.

Because the people support him are one of, or any combination of racist, mysoginist, American nationalist, angry white men, Karens. Some are just morons impressed by his high school football star rhetoric.
One of the things they like is "he says what he wants". That's not always a good thing if the kinds of things you want to say are the kinds of things that go through a warped mind like his.

I think people were tired of politicians. I hated Trumps personality until he went into politics.

People are fed up with DC. They're tired of the Oligarchy. Trump's win was a one off. He wasn't the worst person, but damned it the global media apparatus didn't brainwash around 70% of the world and drive us into global authoritarianism. Fuck the whole government... Also fuck all the useless low information eaters that have brought about this absolute collapse of the western world.

As an independent I laugh at both sides, however, I find the left to be the more deranged at the moment.

Give over, max, my mum is called Karen and she's only mildly racist!

I was only really aware of him from clips of The Apprentice and knew that he was a business man who’d inherited a fortune etc and just thought he was a “bit” odd.. idk I think Brits find Americans a bit odd generally lol but Trump didn’t even seem like a real person but when he entered politics my opinion improved 100%

As much as I disliked the man, at least Trump was plain to see. Biden is another story, take his election stance on the Saudi Arabian Prince versus what he did once in office... Trump took the same stance mind, but at least said it how it was.
I Guess it begs the question whether presidential candidates are just naïve or blatant bullshitters. Say if Burney Sanders, by some miracle, came into office, would he quickly back step and follow the status quo, side-lining all he's stood up for? Is the system that corrupt or fragile? Guess I'd be naïve to think otherwise! Guess they're only figure heads after all, mascots, puppets, rather than wielders of any real power to drive change.

Because they were scared. They saw cancel culture, Antifa and all the far left crap. They're also tired of political corruption like everyone else. Trump marketed himself as the answer to all of that. I've spoken to Trump voters. Not all of them are bad people.

You pretty much described it in a nutshell. You can't fully trustvany of them, but at least when Trump took a stance he stuck to it....except for COVID. He went from downplaying it to pushing out an experimental vaccine in less than a year.

This begs the question: "Is a willfully ignorant person a bad person?"

It is true that Trump marketed himself as the one to "drain the swamp", but then he did just the opposite by appointing family members, cronies, and certain political critics, who routinely kissed Trump's butt, to positions of power and influence. The lack of critical thinking in this country is shameful.

You can convince people to believe all sorts of "news" when they're understandably paranoid and scared.

Extremism and political tribalism are the result of fear and dissapointment. Antifa brats are enraged at widening class inequality, mostly young people after being told their whole lives that this is the land of opportunity only for the more complex reality of the situation to hit them in the face, and the Trumpers and Alt-right nutjobs are reacting to government overreach and an appearant surge of socialist thinking that they fear will take the nation they love away from them.

My point isn't that they should be absolved of their actions, just to have some empathy and understanding for them, something serverely lacking in this "everyone is the devil but me" political climate.
