All I have to say it WTF... I am watching a PBS Nova special on the String Theory... something about Physics and there actually being 11 dimensions. Sounds cool.

Yes, 11-dimensional super gravity.

I used to be into this, and I used to understand this. Then, I started doing drugs. Regardless, string theory is very interesting. If I remembered any of it, I'd try to converse about it.

I should read up.

I've seen that show,it's pretty cool. If infuct it is proven it's possible to understand our physics history in a whole new way.
I don't remember the exact story, but the theory of it all is pretty mindblowing.

It's something on the lines of things millions of times smaller than atoms.
Me thinks.

It's a vital part of M-Theory, a set of theories that all relate to one another in extremely strange and wonderful ways and could soon lead to a quantum theory of gravity.

Hyperstrings, world-sheets, it's all interesting. I'm going to read a couple books before winter break is over.

if you really want to think about it.. theres really a limitless number of dimensions. To a 2-dimensional object (length and width, no height), something that has 3 dimensions that enters the 2 dimensional world would appear as an everchanging diameter of a circle. the 2 dimensional creature cannot fathom 3 dimensions, it knows nothing that it can compare the 3rd dimension to. Likewise, we have trouble viewing objects in 4 dimensions. But to a 4 dimensional creature, that is the world it lives in. and so forth. pretty trippy. I'm kinda drunk too.

You got all the way to 4 bud... still 7 to go. It all seems really cool, that show rocked.

Ahh wonderful! I removed all my links to the other sites I am on, but I can't help to throw this one out there. Just try and figure out which poster I am, or don't. LOL

It is very cool, Im so thankfull that I dont have any more physics or chem classes to take!

If I remember correctly, they are just getting around to proving that the string theory is mathematically possible?

I dont think there are infinite dimensions though, everything has a beggining and an end, even if we are to dumb to figure it out.

We exist in three dimensions - length, width, and height - all of which we can manipulate in most cases. We can observe the effects of the fourth dimension - time - but cannot manipulate it. Anything beyond that is ether non-existant, or is completely incomprehensible by anyone.

After reading your statement, I delved into that link I gave and found a time-line... here is the quote found, and the link.

Yeah, I coulda just copied and pasted, but.... I'm lazy... all my energy is in another dimension.

*Edit* BTW, I visited that site, read a couple of threads, and got a brain hemmorhage. :thumbsdn:

The fraction of what we know of the universe is something like ((((((10^-10)^10)^1000000000000000000000000000000)^10000000000000000000)^repeat 100000000000000000000000times)^100000000000000000000000) in street words, we don't know shit

did that make any sense?

Almost. You left out a zero.

Actually, Max is incorrect, you have one too many zeros.

Actually, you're wrong; he should've carried that last zero.
