I was thinking about it last night and decided that it scares the hell out of me how many of our civil liberties have been eroded away for the sake of "safety from terror." To me this is a great big load of bullshit. I dont just mean by the Bush administration, for the past two decades at least this has been going on. I wonder if this is how communism got started in the soviet union...?

Communism in its pure "Marxist" form is merely the rising the up of the "Proletariat" or working class against their "Capitalist" "oppressors" to seize the "means of production". I'd love to see communism take hold here...according to Marx its the natural progression of economic situations. I think most americans equate communism with the perverted forms in Cuba and N.Korea. The power isnt in the hands of the Proletariat...its in the hands of the government dictators. I'm not calling you out on being stupid...but....i'm just saying educate yourselves so you dont end up making ignorant comments. No offence.

Communisim works when no one takes advantage of the situation... I can hardly see where that would even remotely begin to happen in a society such as ours.

Here goes:

You are correct communism was intended to be a pure form of Marxism, but I dont think that Karl Marx or the Soviet leaders took into account the nature of man, meaning self-preservation. And the soviet idea of communism was everyone contributes to the greater good. What happened was several decades of people spying on each other to hopefully shift government attention off of themselves. Communism in soviet russia was intended to help the poor, but in the end only benefitted the wealthy.

Communism on paper itself is beautiful....It will never ever work because of human nature. Humans want power over each other and thus, communism will never work due to greed

Exactly, though it sounds better to call it "self preservation"

It's a shame there are so many people in America that elect a president based solely on moral issues such as gay rights and abortion rather than issues that really effect our country.

My friend, who is a complete genius, and far superior to me in countless ways, built my schools reputation as an institution with his bear hands. They are expelling him for making fun of some kid in our class.

Communism is surely amongst us. My friend is a short little asian dude for gods sake! What kind of threat could he create?

Heh, debating the moral issues is easy. If its killing someone/people then don't kill the people. If its harming the environment , Stop the environment harming etc. Just go with the "nice" side and people give you respect.

Communism in the US... I like it ;) I'm more socialist though, although I could get into replacing that damn eagle with a hammer and sickle ;)

Marx realized our current mental "handicap" (if you will)...He theorized communism as the next step in our natural progression from more archaic forms of economy. Its all about moving from "fragmentation" to "one-ness"....example in the Hegelian (I think) Dialectic:

thesis-------
\
-------Synthesis

/
antithesis----

The idea is that all throughout time there has been a cycle of great events where the "thesis" and "anithesis" became one thing...the "Synthesis"...but almost as instantly as the Synthesis is created...another Antithesis emerges to continue the cycle. The idea is that after each "synthesis" is created...the two opposing forces become just a little more similar.....like they're rubbing off on eachother....the Cycles becomes more severe as we move toward the "ultimate synthesis" in which all things are one. This dialectic manifests itself in our current economic system and cycles of"Crash, Depression, Revival of Economy, Inflation, Crash....etc." So basically its going to get much worse before it gets better.

Its a little disjointed...I'm a slightly toasted....So ask and i'll try to clarify for you...if I even know.

Hey this has nothing to do with communism... The US is going more and more towards the fascist right, while the USSR was to the fascist left, and in my opinion it's just as bad. (although the US government is not as authoritarian as the soviet union used to be, they're slowly going in that direction.)

Basically communism is an entirely state-planned economy, and neo-liberalism (the opposite of communism on the economical scale) is extremely deregulated economy, or economical anarchy, the laws of the strongest. I'm leaning towards the left, but I hate both extremes.

There are too many people in this country who give a fuck for it to become a communist country.

Well, then again most of the ones who bitch and complain really only do bitch and complain.

I guess we'll be the whiny-est communist country ever.

I cant see the US in no way a communistic state. More fascistic than commie. Communism can in my opinion be put in the same box whereare all the other nover-to-work -philosofies, as those made by the Greek Gay Philosophers.. Man is too self-conscious for that to ever work. Never. Ever.
People always confuse communism and dictatorship. The power of few, that is the true problem of the US. And as it seems with the election and all, you are not even willing to change this.

Scared of change maybe?

worried that someday you might have "res-pon-si-bi-li-ty".
