I believe Spooner was right.
Spponer only delivered mail between a handful of cities. Decent idea, but of limited use in practice. I'm not opposed to allowing private letter carriers, but the USPS would probably end up serving poorer areas either way.

Agreed. That's why Fedex, UPS and DHL all went bankrupt. Providing services to customers is an outdated model that'll never work. We need to subsidize to the tune of billions so Aunt Greta can get her used car fliers.

So be it. Limit its size and scope and watch how quickly customer satisfaction increases while prices decrease. I'm on board.

Spooner's service was useless if you wanted to send a letter cross country. Customers would have to deal with different rates, different postages etc. His and similar services are not direct examples of a USPS competitor considering their rates and routes are nationwide. But I do see value in allowing local competition.

So be it. Limit its size and scope and watch how quickly customer satisfaction increases while prices decrease. I'm on board.
It's a service directly allowed by the constitution; I doubt it's going anywhere. Of course if you intentionally hamstring it, it will fail, but that's a level of partisanry I'd rather not consider. We have much more pressing areas to cut spending in, namely defense and subsidies. This is super backburner, and is only coming up now as an excuse for killing mail-in-ballots imo.

A business hamstrung by the federal government at its infancy is hardly an expression of a business failure. Isn't the claim that changes in class 1 mail delivery in order to restrict mail in voting by definition a 'conspiracy theory'? I thought only the hardened right deals in those.

I only partly blame trump and his lack of taking Covid seriously for why we are where we are right now. We're more fucked on this because as a country we are a bunch of entitled selfish spoiled babies.
These selfish whiners that use the liberty card to justify their resistance to masking and social distance are the new Karen. They say a mandate violates their human or constitutional rights. The real problem here is that they are more interested in going back to bars and avoiding wearing a hot uncomfortable mask than safeguarding the life of the fellow American standing next to them in Walmart.
We have seatbelt laws and helmet laws designed to protect the user, not others. Why don't they protest these laws so vocally? If anything you'd think they would find justification in protesting a law that "restricts their personal liberty" as opposed to a temporary mandate aimed at addressing a present health emergency. Again, selfishness and entitlement.

1) I wear a mask when I am in close proximity to other humans. I wear a mask in every store regardless of their policy. 2) I haven't been in a bar since I was in my 20's. 3) I should be free to wear a seatbelt at my own discretion. I don't think you can make a good argument that my not wearing one infringes on the rights of others. 4) My state rightly wiped our helmet laws from the books a few years ago. 5) There are no such things as "constitutional rights". There are natural rights enumerated in the constitution.

Nah, it's pretty fucking obvious this is intended to harm mail-in-voting. Sorting machine and mailboxes that have existed for decades, and wouldn't represent significant upkeep costs, are being pulled all over.

I'll play along. Trump is out there pulling mailboxes in historically democrat districts. Meanwhile, the democrats are advocating porous borders which bring in democrat voters. How is this not politics as usual? Do you actually think democrats aren't just as Machiavellian as republicans? The BLM machine takes money people think is going somewhere to something and redirects it to ActBlue which finances white leftists. How is one more corrupt than the other?

You seem to be under the assumption that I'm playing sides here, when I hate both of them. I'm just highlighting extreme partisanry and what I see as bad-faith actions. Dems do an awful lot of that too, generally wrt regulation of social and so-called moral issues. I'm just not an minarchist so I tend not to be a huge fan of Rothbard et al... more of a fan of Nozick personally.

You have me a bit confused. You say you are not a minarchist and that's why you're not Rothbardian and prefer Nozick. Well, Rothbard was an anarchist and Nozick was a minarchist. If you're not a minarchist then wouldn't you by definition oppose Nozick's 'night watchmen'?

Well, you know, whatever that evil man has done...it's wrong. If he cured cancer magically and handed out puppies to people the left would still find fault.

The left is mad because Hillary was supposed to smoke check him in the elections...only to get herself escorted to the door by security.

Oh, the horror...

Trump would never cure cancer or hand out puppies. He does spread coronavirus and weaken the post office though.

Hillary did win the popular vote, but it didn't count due to the rigged electoral college. Nice try though.

Use the Post office often do ya? Maybe it hasn't been very profitable for the last decade or so because Trump was planning on using them to steal the 2020 election by suggesting we vote in person. That seems like a reasonable conclusion to me.

How is he spreading COVID?

Im a bit confused, are we supposed to be a direct democracy? Why or why not?

Long before he became President,I had come to the conclusion that Trump was a supporter of pedophiles, was a racist, and a misogynist, plus he just really likes to see things fail, since he's been president he has followed that tradition to the best of his abilities, no matter the spin put on it to make it look right.

Long story short. Anyone who voted for Trump the first time should be made to take and pass an IQ test before being allowed to vote again. Anyone who voted for him again should be jailed for treason.

It's to the point where even upstanding conservatives are getting fed up. Decent people need to take this country back from the racist, far right nationalists that feel comfortable crawling out from the shadows with him in charge. Send these filthy un-American rednecks back to the dark parts of the internet where they can talk amongst themselves about Pizza gate and the good old days when America was great and white and the gays kept to themselves.

So yeah. Trump is a worthless piece of shit. But his cult members are the real danger. They're out there amongst all the real Americans more than happy to put his veiled suggestions into action.

Please cite the specific policies Trump has supported which you deem racist. They can be examples of cabinet appointments, executive orders or congressional bills he signed into law. Same goes for the claims of misogyny. As I've said before I am not a "Trump supporter" I'd just like to see the facts and not further name calling based on anecdotal evidence or innuendo. Lets put him on trial with the charges being racism and misogyny. State your case and present your evidence.

Yeah. Can you please cite more examples? I'll post a reply pretending not to understand, call you stupid, and demand more examples. I'll even follow you into multiple unrelated threads and post insults because I'm angry and insecure. Thank you!

"Orange man bad, meanie poopie face" isn't an example. "He let covid spread" isn't an example. This really shouldn't be that hard. For example, I called him an asshole. My evidence for this is based on how he did business in New York and his relationships with subcontractors and vendors. Fucking them over was business as usual. We can get more specific if you'd like. So...I can bolster "he's an asshole". I'm simply asking you to bolster "he's a racist"....you know something a bit more tangible than just using all caps.

I don't understand. When did I say "orange man bad"? When did I say "meanie poopie face"? When did I use all caps? You have to post examples because I'm not seeing it.

I know Trump is spraying COVID all over minority neighborhoods. The Post Office has been going under for decades. It will be fine if they reorganize.
