Not quite sure where this belongs, but figured Writers Block was the best spot for it... but then again what do I know.

Of all the artistic content out there, books, songs, poems, stories, paintings, what do you identify with? Perhaps identify isn't the exact feeling, but more of a feel a part of, as if connected to ... bound to.

Lately for me it's been Bitter Sweet Symphony by The Verve. For me, it's not so much the lyrics, but the general capturing of the emotions or mood.

Cos' it's a bittersweet symphony this life...
Trying to make ends meet, you're a slave to the money then you die.
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down...
You know the one that takes you to the places where all the veins meet, yeah.
No change, I can't change, I can't change, I can't change,
but I'm here in my mold , I am here in my mold.
But I'm a million different people from one day to the next.
I can't change my mold, no, no, no, no, no, no, no

Well, I never pray,
But tonight I'm on my knees, yeah.
I need to hear some sounds that recognize the pain in me, yeah.
I let the melody shine, let it cleanse my mind , I feel free now.
But the airwaves are clean and there's nobody singing to me now.

No change, I can't change, I can't change, I can't change,
but I'm here in my mold , I am here in my mold.
And I'm a million different people from one day to the next
I can't change my mold, no, no, no, no, no, no, no

(Well have you ever been down?)
(I can't change, I can't change...)
(Ooooohhhhh...)

Cos' it's a bittersweet symphony this life.
Trying to make ends meet, trying to find some money then you die.
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down...
You know the one that takes you to the places where all the veins meet, yeah.
You know I can't change, I can't change, I can't change,
but I'm here in my mold, I am here in my mold.
And I'm a million different people from one day to the next.
I can't change my mold, no,no,no,no,no,no,no
I can't change my mold, no,no,no,no,no,no,no
I can't change my mold, no,no,no,no,no,no,no

(It justs sex and violence melody and silence)
(It justs sex and violence melody and silence)
(I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down)
(It justs sex and violence melody and silence)
(I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down)
(Been down)
(Ever been down)
(Ever been down)(Lalalalalalaaaaaaaa...)
(Ever been down)
(Ever been down)
(Have you ever been down?)
(Have you ever been down?)
(Have you ever been down?)

Do you want a song or a poem? or anything

I love how the summer sky falls to the midnight air and the stars all glow and the way the wind blows so gently and sweet kisses of the rain. I love the light and dancing glow of fire flys. There is not really a poem, a story, a song, or anything that i can dig my roots into like the world around me.

I guess i am just werid

I just like words. doesnt matter if it is lyrics, poems, short stories. whatever. when you right something, you control the readers emotions, if they are happy, sad, afraid or brave. at least the great writers (even songwriters) do.

I didn't have anything in particular in mind, so it could be a song, a poem, a picture, or nearly anything...

Today I was listening through the rest of the sound track to Cruel Intentions, and found another song that I can identify with. Once again, its not the lyrics but more the melody and overall sound that gets to me. I suppose that's because I usually pay less attention to lyrics. This time it's ColorBlind by Counting Crows.

I am colorblind
Coffee black and egg white
Pull me out from inside
I am ready
I am ready
I am ready
I am
Taffy stuck, tongue tied
Stuttered shook and uptight
Pull me out from inside
I am ready
I am ready
I am ready
I am...fine
I am covered in skin
No one gets to come in
Pull me out from inside
I am folded, and unfolded, and unfolding
I am
colorblind
Coffee black and egg white
Pull me out from inside
I am ready
I am ready
I am ready
I am...fine
I am.... fine
I am fine

Social Distortion-Story of my life

High school seemed like such a blur,
I didn't have much interest in sports or
School elections.
And in class I dreamed all day,
About a rock 'n' roll weekend.
And the girl in the front of the room, so close yet so far y'know she never seemed
To notice
That this silly school-boy crush
Wasn't just pretend.
chorus:
Life goes by so fast, you only want to do what you think is right.
Close your eyes and then it's past;
(It's the) Story of my life.
And I went down to my old neighborhood,
The faces have all changed, there's no one left to talk to.
And the pool hall I loved as a kid
Is now a Seven Eleven.
I went downtown to look for a job,
I had no training, no experience to speak of.
I looked at the holes in my jeans
And turned and headed back.
chorus:
Life goes by so fast, you only want to do what you think is right.
Close your eyes and then it's past;
(It's the) Story of my life.
Good times come and good times go,
I only wish the good times would last a
Little longer.
I think about the good times we had
And why they had to end.
So I sit at the edge of my bed,
I strum my guitar and I sing an outlaw
love song.
Wonderin' bout what you're doin' now
And when you're comin' back.

in a few years, Social Distortion-Ball and Chain

Well it's been ten years, and a thousand tears
And look at the mess I'm in-
A broken nose and a broken heart,
An empty bottle of gin
Well I sit and I pray
In my broken down Chevrolet-
While I'm singin' to myself
There's got to be another way
chorus:
Take away, take away
Take away this ball and chain
I'm lonely and I'm tired
And I can't take any more pain
Take away, take away
Never to return again
Take away, take away
Take away this ball and chain
Well I've searched and I've searched
To find the perfect life-
A brand new car and a brand new suit
I even got me a little wife-
But wherever I have gone
I was sure to find myself there-
You can run all your life
But not go anywhere
chorus:
Take away, take away
Take away this ball and chain
I'm lonely and I'm tired
And I can't take any more pain
Take away, take away
Never to return again
Take away, take away
Take away this ball and chain
Well I'll pass the bar on the way
To my dingy hotel room-
I spent all my money
Been drinkin' since a half past noon-
I'll wake there in the mornin'
Or maybe in the county jail-
Times are hard getting harder
I'm born to lose and destined to fail-
chorus:
Take away, take away
Take away this ball and chain
I'm lonely and I'm tired
And I can't take any more pain
Take away, take away
Never to return again
Take away, take away
Take away this ball and chain

Just about every Everclear song mentioning his childhood reminds me of aspects of my childhood and my relationship with my dad. It's kind of a downer, but I don't feel like being cheery right now.

I really like Dashboard Confessionals, I find that when i'm not in the mood for rock or anything they really help to calm me down. Jewel does the same thing and makes me feel like some kind of hippie (well her first 2 CDs) and they remind me that I am feminine.

One of my fav lines describes my past three relationships:
Don't try to understand me- you're hands already know too much anyway...

then it's all downhill from there

This song is the only thing that makes me think i want someone ( of course as soon as it's over i go back to the whole "love is for the weak minded" motto)

Hands Down

Breathe in for luck, breathe in so deep, this air is blessed, you share with me
This night is wild, so calm and dull, these hearts they race from self control
Your legs are smooth, as they graze mine, ee're doing fine, we're doing nothing at all

My hopes are so high, that your kiss might kill me.
So won't you kill me, so I die happy?
My heart is yours to fill or burst, to break or bury,
Or wear as jewelery, which ever you prefer.

The words are hushed lets not get busted, just lay entwined here, undiscovered
Safe from the earth and all the stupid questions...
"Hey did you get some?" Man, that is so dumb.
Stay quiet, stay near, stay close they can't hear, so we can get some

Hands down this is the best day I ever remember
I'll always remember the sound of the stereo, the dim of the soft lights
The scent of your hair that you twirled in your fingers
And the time on the clock when we realized it's so late
And this walk that we shared together
The streets were wet, and the gate was locked so I jumped it, and let you in
And you stood at the door with your hands on my waist
And you kissed me like you meant it
And I knew that you meant it, that you meant it, that you meant it

six figures enter; they've come to destroy the world. they've called together this storm almost every night. i awake in another place. a familiar voice with a stranger's face speaks more unheard words. what new friends will the day bring? one for one thousand acquainted. what new home will the night bring? when it all comes down you just throw the bones. on the way i saw five hours of sleep but your fire makes it all worth while. on the way i wrote words for you to keep. on the way, i saw myself. lost myself along the way.
