The other one is 800x600.

That's actually a more semantic resolution than 1280 x 1024, since it's 4:3 and 1280x1024 is 5:4.

I feel small here. 1152 x 864. I'll bet Jung made this thread just to show off his fancy monitor.

AUGH! 800x600?! It's like I'm reading a Special Education textbook! Those fonts are motherfucking huge!

My DOS machine runs 640x480 for one reason: Nostalgia. That and the fact that the video card is a slow piece of shit, a 512K Cirrus Logic that cannot display 256-color video above that, let alone play Descent at above 8fps regardless of detail level. Also, Doom 2 is unplayable unless I turn on "Low Detail."

And the CPU is a speedy one - a Cyrix Cx486DX2-66MHz. I had a Compaq Prolinea with an Intel 486DX2-66MHz and a Tseng Labs ET4000/W32 1MB card and it pwned in Descent. I miss that box but prefer this one.

It's going to have an ISA ATi Mach32 in it soon.

After running 1600 x 1200 for years, anything less seems ridiculously large and cluttered. Even my Linux box that runs 1280 x 1024 seems too large. I couldn't imagine going back to 800 x 600.

1280x1024 at 32bit 60 hertz though. I just bought a new computer and i feel "limited" as it was a gaming computer, what monitor can do at least 75 hertz 2000 by 1500 flat panel and 16ms response time?

None, since that's not a standardized resolution. Dell sells 20" (2005FPW) and 24" (2405FPW) wide screen LCDs that run 1680 x 1050 and 1920 x 1080 respectively. Both have 12ms response times.

Look at the image I posted above, I own the 20" wide screen Dell and I love it. Imo, the 24" isn't as practical since it stretches anything but 1080 HD movies and would be really taxing on video cards. If you do any gaming, the 24" monitor will pretty much force you to always have the newest, fastest video card. At least if you want to run games at the native resolution... but if you don't it looks like crap.

Slight correction, the 2405 runs 1920x1200.
